Preparing for Abravanel Hall’s future
Committed to ensuring the Utah Symphony thrives for the next 50 years and beyond, Mayor Wilson has worked hard to find a path for preserving Abravanel Hall and upgrading the facility to meet the needs of musicians and visitors.
Investing in the future of our rec, arts, and cultural facilities
Mayor Wilson strongly supports the upcoming Zoo, Arts and Parks tax which increases the sales tax within Salt Lake County by .1 percentage, or one cent for every 10 dollars. This revenue has been a source of funding for dozens of recreation facilities and arts and culture centers and programs.
Writing an arts and culture master plan
Salt Lake County has completed the 10-Year Arts & Culture Master Plan, which will provide the County a roadmap in the coming years for arts and culture investment.
Opening the Mid-Valley Performing Arts Center
Salt Lake County completed construction and opened Mid-Valley Performing Arts Center, serving as a hub to arts organizations and patrons across the region.
Planning a new arts center in the Southwest
Mayor Wilson is in the planning and design phase to build a new art center in the Southwest quadrant of the valley.
Investing in the county’s arts facilities
Each budget proposed by Mayor Wilson over the years provides significant investment in the county’s arts facilities including Abravanel Hall, the Eccles Broadway Theatre, the Capitol Theatre and regional arts centers.
Bringing art installations to park facilities
Mayor Wilson collaborated with Parks & Recreation and the Clark Planetarium on the Arts, Parks & Utah Skies art installations at the Taylorsville Recreation Center, Magna’s Pleasant Green Park, and Herriman’s Yellow Fork Canyon trailhead.
Upgrading the Utah Cultural Celebration Center
Mayor Wilson continues to prioritize investments in our cultural centers including an audio/visual system upgrade at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center.
